Root Canal Therapy in Peoria & Galesburg IL
What is a root canal?
A root canal is one of the most common dental procedures performed, well over 14 million times every year. This simple treatment can save your natural teeth and prevent the need of dental implants or bridges.
At the center of your tooth is pulp. Pulp is a collection of blood vessels that helps to build the surrounding tooth. Infection of the pulp can be caused by trauma to the tooth, deep decay, cracks and chips, or repeated dental procedures.
Symptoms of a Root Canal
Symptoms of the infection can be identified as visible injury or swelling of the tooth, sensitivity to temperature or pain in the tooth and gums.

Infection of the pulp can be caused by trauma to the tooth, deep decay, cracks and chips, or repeated dental procedures. Symptoms of the infection can be identified as visible injury or swelling of the tooth, sensitivity to temperature or pain in the tooth and gums.
If you experience any of these symptoms, your dentist will most likely recommend non-surgical root canal treatment to eliminate the diseased pulp. This injured pulp is removed and the root canal system is thoroughly cleaned and sealed. This therapy usually involves local anesthesia and may be completed in one or more visits depending on the treatment required.

What happens after treatment?
When your root canal therapy has been completed, a record of your treatment will be sent to your restorative dentist. You should contact their office for a follow-up restoration within a few weeks of completion at our office. Your restorative dentist will decide on what type of restoration is necessary to protect your tooth.
It is rare for endodontic patients to experience complications after routine endodontic treatment or microsurgery. If a problem does occur, however, we are available at all times to respond. To prevent further decay, continue to practice good dental hygiene.
How much will it cost?
The cost associated with this procedure can vary depending on factors such as the severity of damage to the affected tooth and which tooth is affected. In general, endodontic treatment is much less expensive than tooth removal and replacement with an artificial tooth.

It will be hard for most people to understand that having a root canal done by Dr. Fabian was a pleasant experience. He was most considerate of my comfort at all times, he explained what he was doing and everything he had done after the procedure. There was no pain, absolutely none. This was not my first root canal so knew what to expect. His assistant and office staff were fantastic. The young woman at the front desk so pleasant, my prescription was called in before leaving and ready for pickup on my way home. Thank you to all of you for your thoughtfulness, kindness and your expertise.

Dr. Benjamin was amazing! I was very nervous about having the root canal done. Dr. Benjamin assured me that there would be absolutely no pain. He applied a liberal amount of numbing gel and then did the injections - literally no pain at all. During the procedure, I did not feel any pain and his assistant was very comforting in making sure I was comfortable. This procedure is NOT like what other people told me - truthfully, I experience more pain and discomfort when I get my teeth clean every six months. I would definitely recommend Dr. Benjamin and his staff.

HEARD NOTHING BUT BAD ABOUT ROOT CANALS. WHEN DR. BENJAMIN WORKED ON MY TOOTH, HE EXPLAINED EVERYTHING HE WAS GOING TO DO. HE MADE SURE I WAS RELAXED AND REVIEWED EVERYTHING SO I UNDERSTOOD WHAT HE DID AND WHY IT NEEDED TO BE DONE. I WAS SURPRISED THAT I HAD NO PAIN DURING THE PROCESS. ALL OF THE STAFF WERE VERY NICE AND WERE READY AND WILLING TO HELP. I WOULD BE MORE THAN WILLING TO RETURN IF I NEEDED ANOTHER ROOT CANAL. A SPECIAL THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR HELP AND HOW WELL I WAS TREATED

Not knowing what to expect, I was rather nervous before the procedure. Dr. Benjamin and all the staff were all very kind and considerate. Dr. Benjamin thoroughly explained what needed to be done then efficiently and competently completed the procedure. He was very careful to make it as pain free as possible. After the procedure, he made sure I understood what he had done and what needed to be addressed in the future. I was very impressed and will definitely recommend him to anyone who needs his expertise (including my husband).

I have had three root canals in the last three months. Dr. Fabian is the most painless doctor I have ever had. Everybody had told me that a root canal was very painful. NOT SO. Would go back and highly recommend him anytime to anyone. His nurse/assistant was also very helpful keeping everything going and answered every question I had before the Dr. came in. Thanks Dr. and staff again for getting my teeth in order. Gary N

The only reason I gave a 4 star rating instead of 5 stars is because I wasn't told about the credit company they work with. Payment is due at time of procedure, and root canals are not cheap. I asked if there was a cash discount, and there is not. I did not ask about a credit plan, failure on my part. I think in the future, the credit aspect should be discussed with each patient. Fortunately I had the money to pay, many people do not. On the plus side, the Dr and his staff made this the best, easiest root canal I have ever experienced.

This was my first root canal procedure and I was extremely pleased with the experience. Dr. Benjamin and the staff went above and beyond to make you comfortable and take your mind off of the procedure. I watched an episode of Star Trek and the procedure was done before it was even finished. I did not feel a single tinge of pain during the entire procedure! As a scuba diver I also had some special considerations and concerns about the procedure, which Dr. Benjamin accommodated me brilliantly with - he even stayed late one day so he could get me in for the second procedure so I could go diving the next day, all with very little notice! After the procedure there was no pain and I was able to go about my normal business, including my hobbies, as if nothing happened. Thank you much for the great work!

I was very anxious about my root canals. Dr. Fabian said I would feel NO pain and I didn't! He also said my 2 root canals would take 1 hr and yes i was out in 1 hr. I have several friends who have also used this office and were very pleased. I highly recommend this office.

I was absolutely amazed that I did not experience any pain. I had a terrible experience when I had my first root canal with a different practice. I was very fearful of coming to this appointment. I appreciated that they took their time and made me feel very comfortable. I had to have 2 root canals, so it was a long appointment. Dr. Benjamin did a wonderful job! I will come back if I need anymore additional work. Thank you.

Patient Review By Shannon M
My six year old son was referred to this office by our family dentist for a root canal. I had no small amount of hesitancy about subjecting a six year old to such an involved dental procedure, but it was necessary to save a molar that my son wouldn't normally lose for another six years. Dr. Benjamin and the entire staff at Midwest Endodontic Specialists were simply exceptional. Dr. Benjamin consulted with a local pediatric dentist before proceeding, kept me informed as to the recommended procedure, and walked me through every step of the root canal while it was being performed. They treated my son wonderfully, and he came through the procedure without so much as a single tear. Everything about this practice, from the technology they employ to the staff that works there, is absolutely first class. I would recommend it to anyone.

I have had multiple root canals now, a few of them quite involved, and in each case the procedure was entirely pain-free. Any question I have had has been answered promptly, even once on a weekend. Dr. Fabian is a genuinely friendly and kind person, and his absolute concern for your welfare before and after your visit is obvious. Last year, for instance, I had referred pain from another tooth that seemed to come from the one he worked on, and he very patiently brought me in to demonstrate for me what was going on. Even though he know all along the tooth was fine, he wanted me to be sure that there was no problem. I confidently recommend him to anyone who needs endodontal work--not only are is skills outstanding, he goes the extra mile to make sure you are confident and comfortable.

I had heard horrible things about root canals so when I went in for one, I was expecting it to be just that--horrible. What a surprise. It was a breeze. Although I have a small mouth and it was a back tooth, Dr. Hosein performed the root canal with ease. I was in the chair about 50 minutes and he was done. He told me to take 3 ibuprofen every 6 hours and everything was fine. I would recommend everyone and anyone who needs a root canal to go there.

I am normally not a good dental patient - I am a grown woman and a big cry-baby about all things in the dentist chair - but Dr. Hosein did such an amazing job no tears from me! He explained what he was going to do, showing me on the x-ray exactly what needed to be done. He had me in and out and PAINFREE, in about a half hour. This was actually less traumatic for me than my last filling at my regular dentist. He then showed me on a new x-ray what it looked like after. His assistant and office staff were equally great. I was able to get in almost immediately upon arrival so I didn't have to fret over my pending root canal in the waiting room. Hopefully, I never have to go back but if I do I will definitely come back to Dr. Hosein. Bonus - headphones and Netflix during the whole procedure.

After taking an elbow to a front tooth in basketball, my grandson needed a root canal. We were referred to Dr. Stephen Benjamin at Midwest Endodontic Specialists. My grandson had insisted on being put under for the procedure, but after meeting with Dr. Benjamin he felt comfortable with a local. He felt completely comfortable and totally trusted Dr. Benjamin, and he did not disappoint. My grandson came out of the procedure with a smile on his face and said that a recent filling was worse than the root canal! I would recommend Midwest Endodontic to anyone seeking professional and personal care. The office staff is awesome, and were else can you watch Netflix while having a root canal.
