Root Canal Therapy in Peoria & Galesburg IL
What is a root canal?
A root canal is one of the most common dental procedures performed, well over 14 million times every year. This simple treatment can save your natural teeth and prevent the need of dental implants or bridges.
At the center of your tooth is pulp. Pulp is a collection of blood vessels that helps to build the surrounding tooth. Infection of the pulp can be caused by trauma to the tooth, deep decay, cracks and chips, or repeated dental procedures.
Symptoms of a Root Canal
Symptoms of the infection can be identified as visible injury or swelling of the tooth, sensitivity to temperature or pain in the tooth and gums.
At the center of your tooth is pulp. Pulp is a collection of blood vessels that helps to build the surrounding tooth. Infection of the pulp can be caused by trauma to the tooth, deep decay, cracks and chips, or repeated dental procedures. Symptoms of the infection can be identified as visible injury or swelling of the tooth, sensitivity to temperature or pain in the tooth and gums.
If you experience any of these symptoms, your dentist will most likely recommend non-surgical root canal treatment to eliminate the diseased pulp. This injured pulp is removed and the root canal system is thoroughly cleaned and sealed. This therapy usually involves local anesthesia and may be completed in one or more visits depending on the treatment required.

What happens after treatment?
When your root canal therapy has been completed, a record of your treatment will be sent to your restorative dentist. You should contact their office for a follow-up restoration within a few weeks of completion at our office. Your restorative dentist will decide on what type of restoration is necessary to protect your tooth.
It is rare for endodontic patients to experience complications after routine endodontic treatment or microsurgery. If a problem does occur, however, we are available at all times to respond. To prevent further decay, continue to practice good dental hygiene.
How much will it cost?
The cost associated with this procedure can vary depending on factors such as the severity of damage to the affected tooth and which tooth is affected. In general, endodontic treatment is much less expensive than tooth removal and replacement with an artificial tooth.

Obviously getting root canal is not on the top of the list for things to get done. The entire office was friendly and very informative. No pain at all during the procedure. The shot was quick with no pain. The assistant ( sorry I cannot remember her name) was excellent. That night had small discomfort that was easily controlled with advil. The next day no discomfort at all. Anyone who needs a root canal should be very comfortable with this staff and painless procedure.

I had always heard horror stories about root canals so I was very pleased that it was a relatively quick and totally painless procedure. I had a second procedure today and while I don’t want to make a habit of them it was over in less than an hour and I have no pain after the numbness was gone. Thank you Dr. Fabian and staff!!

I had a wonderful experience here!! I was afraid to have treatment done so I put up with a lot of pain for way too long. Dr Fabian was great and the procedure went smoothly. I left the office wondering why I waited to have this done. Great experience!

Though I had never had one, I've always used "root canal" as a gauge of how bad something would be. For instance, "I'd rather have a root canal than go to this meeting". However, after this experience I might need to come up with another dreaded phrase. The root canal I had at Midwest Endodontics (at the Galesburg location) was TOTALLY PAINLESS. Except for a very small amount of pain for the numbing shot, I felt no pain whatsoever. For me, having a cavity filled has typically been worse than this procedure. I was in and out in an hour, watched Netflix on a monitor on the ceiling during the procedure, and besides being numb for the next 8 hours, I have had no discomfort after the procedure. My only complaint is that I only got through half of the second episode of "The Office" before they were done. I'll have to watch the other half on Netflix I suppose!

Like so many others have said, it’s really the anticipation that kills for a root canal. My mom had one done earlier this year and was in intense pain the entire time, her endodontist wasn’t careful and didn’t do a great job so I was very nervous getting this one done, as it would be my first. Dr. Fabian did a fantastic job! The only pain was from the injection for the numbing agents, and those barely hurt. The whole root canal took maybe 15-20 minutes and I didn’t feel a single thing during or after. Even now, 12 hours after the procedure my tooth has no pain or sensitivity at all. I will absolutely be returning to Dr. Fabian if I need any more work done, thank you to all the staff that made such a great experience for me! The receptionist, the doctor, the assistant, they were all terrific and very focused on making the procedure as smooth and easy as possible. 5/5 definitely recommend coming here

Dr B was terrific. Explained everything as he went and gave an accurate time frame. An obvious professional. Thanks to all.

Just had my second root canal over past 3 years. Dr. Fabian does a great job. No discomfort during or after the procedure. The anticipation is far worse than the actual procedure.

It will be hard for most people to understand that having a root canal done by Dr. Fabian was a pleasant experience. He was most considerate of my comfort at all times, he explained what he was doing and everything he had done after the procedure. There was no pain, absolutely none. This was not my first root canal so knew what to expect. His assistant and office staff were fantastic. The young woman at the front desk so pleasant, my prescription was called in before leaving and ready for pickup on my way home. Thank you to all of you for your thoughtfulness, kindness and your expertise.

Dr. Benjamin was amazing! I was very nervous about having the root canal done. Dr. Benjamin assured me that there would be absolutely no pain. He applied a liberal amount of numbing gel and then did the injections - literally no pain at all. During the procedure, I did not feel any pain and his assistant was very comforting in making sure I was comfortable. This procedure is NOT like what other people told me - truthfully, I experience more pain and discomfort when I get my teeth clean every six months. I would definitely recommend Dr. Benjamin and his staff.

HEARD NOTHING BUT BAD ABOUT ROOT CANALS. WHEN DR. BENJAMIN WORKED ON MY TOOTH, HE EXPLAINED EVERYTHING HE WAS GOING TO DO. HE MADE SURE I WAS RELAXED AND REVIEWED EVERYTHING SO I UNDERSTOOD WHAT HE DID AND WHY IT NEEDED TO BE DONE. I WAS SURPRISED THAT I HAD NO PAIN DURING THE PROCESS. ALL OF THE STAFF WERE VERY NICE AND WERE READY AND WILLING TO HELP. I WOULD BE MORE THAN WILLING TO RETURN IF I NEEDED ANOTHER ROOT CANAL. A SPECIAL THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR HELP AND HOW WELL I WAS TREATED

Not knowing what to expect, I was rather nervous before the procedure. Dr. Benjamin and all the staff were all very kind and considerate. Dr. Benjamin thoroughly explained what needed to be done then efficiently and competently completed the procedure. He was very careful to make it as pain free as possible. After the procedure, he made sure I understood what he had done and what needed to be addressed in the future. I was very impressed and will definitely recommend him to anyone who needs his expertise (including my husband).

I have had three root canals in the last three months. Dr. Fabian is the most painless doctor I have ever had. Everybody had told me that a root canal was very painful. NOT SO. Would go back and highly recommend him anytime to anyone. His nurse/assistant was also very helpful keeping everything going and answered every question I had before the Dr. came in. Thanks Dr. and staff again for getting my teeth in order. Gary N

The only reason I gave a 4 star rating instead of 5 stars is because I wasn't told about the credit company they work with. Payment is due at time of procedure, and root canals are not cheap. I asked if there was a cash discount, and there is not. I did not ask about a credit plan, failure on my part. I think in the future, the credit aspect should be discussed with each patient. Fortunately I had the money to pay, many people do not. On the plus side, the Dr and his staff made this the best, easiest root canal I have ever experienced.

This was my first root canal procedure and I was extremely pleased with the experience. Dr. Benjamin and the staff went above and beyond to make you comfortable and take your mind off of the procedure. I watched an episode of Star Trek and the procedure was done before it was even finished. I did not feel a single tinge of pain during the entire procedure! As a scuba diver I also had some special considerations and concerns about the procedure, which Dr. Benjamin accommodated me brilliantly with - he even stayed late one day so he could get me in for the second procedure so I could go diving the next day, all with very little notice! After the procedure there was no pain and I was able to go about my normal business, including my hobbies, as if nothing happened. Thank you much for the great work!
